Why Solution Focused Hypnotherapy Is Different...

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is one of the fastest growing therapies of the modern age, and there are numerous reasons for this. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, or SFH, is a well-researched and relatively modern, collaborative form of hypnotherapy, in which the focus is placed on the positive future rather than the negative past or present. A system therapy, it incorporates aspects of psychotherapy, hypnosis, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Brief Therapy, Human Givens and Neuro-Linguistic Programming therapy.

Always positive, never negative

Instead of delving into the original cause of the patients’ symptoms, Solution Focused Hypnotherapy explores and develops the client’s ability to come to conclusions and solutions themselves, allowing them to achieve their goals in their own time and way. Using part psychotherapy and part hypnotic trance, the SF hypnotherapist emphasises that which is positive in the client's life and encourages them to discover their own inner strength and confidence, to change that which they are unhappy with, to envisage realistic goals and go on to achieve them.

How we explain the brain

A ‘brain-based’ therapy, SFH relies on neuroscience and advances in that field to bring about change within the client. By explaining to clients about the brain in a simplified, but relatively thorough manner, using diagrams, numerous theories and research, they will gain an understanding of how the pattern of negative thinking can, and does, create anxiety that affects every part of their life. This gives them a sense of why they feel and act in certain ways when under times of stress and depression. It is with this information and understanding that the client is able to focus clearly on how changes happen. Surprisingly, SFH (along with CBT) is one of the very few therapies that utilise this beneficial method.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is now recognised worldwide as a successful tool in the management and/or treatment of such conditions as pain, anxiety, phobias, depression, OCD and smoking, among many others.
